Nine people have now died of the COVID-19 disease in Monroe County, according to the latest update from the Monroe County Health Department. They say there have been 43 new cases of the disease found since yesterday's update.
The Health Department says that surge in cases is a bit misleading, because it reflects a surge in testing from samples that were collected over a period of seven days. A large number of them came back from outside laboratories today (Tues).
There are now 300 confirmed cases in Monroe County....57 patients are hospitalized...and 24 are in intensive care. They say 76 patients have recovered.
