Coronavirus Cases in NYS Tops 75,000

Governor Cuomo says the number of coronavirus cases are still on an upward slope, with 75,000 identified throughout the state and over 1,500 deaths attributed to the disease.

He notes 43,000 of those cases are in New York City, which continues to take steps aimed at expanding hospital space.

To date, the hospitalization rate continues to fluctuate, though Governor Cuomo indicated some numbers were promising in terms of how many patients were in need of ventilators.

Cuomo says the gathering of equipment, adding of staff, and expansion in hospital space is all in anticipation of the peak in terms of patients, which could come anywhere in the next 15 to 30 days.

Cuomo says its important to gear up now for the battle ahead, and is asking people to accept the uncertainty of the timeline.
