RGH Patient Being Tested for Coronavirus

A patient who went to Rochester General Hospital complaining of respiratory symptoms is now being tested to see if they have the Coronavirus or some other illness. An email sent by the hospital to its staff says the patient arrived at the hospital this morning (Wed) with symptoms consistent with the disease.

Monroe County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says they should know within 48 hours if the county has its first case of the COVID-19 disease. So far, all cases confirmed in New York have been in Westchester County.

In an evening news briefing, Dr. Mendoza said his staff is prepared to keep the community healthy if a case is confirmed. He says avoiding the Coronavirus follows the same steps as avoiding the flu virus.
