Security Cameras In Ontario County Jail Recorded BAC Tests

Authorities in Ontario County have confirmed that security cameras at the County Jail recorded blood alcohol tests of suspected drunken drivers, and it is possible several years of those recordings have been erased.

13WHAM reports the recording capability was supposed to have been turned off, and it's not clear when it was turned back on.

The recordings are automatically erased after three months -- leaving investigators open to claims by defense lawyers that evidence was destroyed. District Attorney Jim Ritts says that means past cases could be reopened.

Recordings that still exist include one made when state Assemblyman Brian Kolb was given a blood alcohol test after his arrest on New Year's Eve.
