NYS Department of Health Prepares For Possible Outbreak

The state Department of Health is in line for a 40-million-dollar boost to prepare for a possible coronavirus outbreak.

Governor Cuomo announced the emergency appropriation yesterday as the number of confirmed cases of the illness spike worldwide. The money will be used to hire more staff, buy equipment and gather any additional resources.

The Department of Health is also talking with local health departments and hospitals to review the necessary protocols to make sure the virus doesn't spread. They're also urging folks to practice good hygiene to avoid getting sick. So far, there have been no confirmed coronavirus cases in New York.
