Deadline Set For Diocese Lawsuits

The bankruptcy court says August 13th will be the last day for claims to be filed against the Diocese of Rochester by people who say they were sexually abused many years ago.

The Diocese filed for bankruptcy last fall following the wave of lawsuits brought under New York's Child Victims Act.

The law allows a one-year suspension of the statute of limitations for lawsuits from survivors of childhood assaults.

Dozens of such lawsuits have been filed against the Diocese since the law took effect last August.
