Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty says he may have an update later today on the skeletal remains found by hunters Sunday in the woods of Route 20A.
Dougherty believes the remains are those of David Morgan, the man who disappeared into the woods in 2018 after pointing a gun at an officer during a traffic stop.
The sheriff's office is waiting for confirmation from the medical examiner.
Morgan was an ex-convict and was on the run from North Carolina when he was stopped outside Geneseo.
His girlfriend was caught at the scene and is serving three years for her role in the threat on the officer.
