Rochester Drug Cooperative Notifies State Of Plant Closure

The Rochester Drug Cooperative has formally notified the state it is closing its local plant in Gates.

Ninety-eight employees at the building on Jetview Drive will be laid off in May.

The current CEO had indicated in a letter to employees this month that a closing was likely.

Federal authorities alleged last year that the former CEO sold large volumes of opioids to pharmacies, knowing that they would be sold illegally to addicts.

The RDC said last month it would stop selling opioids to pharmacies.

The RDC also has a distribution center in New Jersey.
