Prison Sentence Follows Holdup, Manhunt

A man who admitted robbing a convenience store in Ontario County and leading police on a manhunt for 24 hours has been sentenced to five years in state prison.

Brandon Burgess of Phelps will also spend five years on post-release supervision. He pleaded guilty in Ontario County Court to charges of robbery, grand larceny, tampering with evidence and criminal mischief.

As part of his plea deal, the 28-year-old Burgess waives his right to appeal.

Burgess held up a 7-Eleven in Phelps last September with what later turned out to be an Airsoft gun.
