The National Council for Home Safety and Security has ranked the top 120 safest cities in New York state, and Rochester is Number 101.
Rochester finished ahead of Greece, Syracuse, Utica, Buffalo and Gates. But it ranked behind Brighton, Irondequoit and Batavia. Cities on Long Island and in Westchester County dominated the top of the list.
The cities were ranked on crime rates per capita and the number of police officers per capita.
