Legislators Move to Repeal Monroe County's 1st Responder Harassment Law

Monroe County Legislator Karla Boyce is co-sponsoring legislation to repeal the county's First Responder Anti-Harassment Law...a law she originally sponsored.

Boyce says she partnered with Democratic Minority Leader Vincent Felder on the repeal bill after receiving a lot of feedback from all around the county...feedback she says that was not always pleasant but which "advanced her understanding" of the issues involved.

Boyce says her intent was to honor first responders and give them an added layer of protection, not to interfere with police-community relations or people's rights. She says the law would likely have led to a lawsuit against the county.
