The U.S. Coast Guard is issuing a warning about the ice along both Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River.
Officials say the ice may not be suitable for people who like to ride snowmobiles or all-terrain vehicles on the ice.
They say the current thickness of the ice is far below what it normally is and could lead to a dangerous situation.
They say if you do choose to go on the ice, dress warmly to prevent hypothermia and wear bright colors so you can easily be seen by others.
