Prison Guard Who Aided Dannemora Jail Break May Be Released Today

The prison employee who aided the escape of two convicted killers is finishing her own prison time.

Joyce Mitchell is due to be released Saturday, but the state corrections department says her release could be moved up to today.

Mitchell helped Richard Matt and David Sweat break out of the state prison in Dannemora in 2015.

She provided tools they used to break through the walls and pipes.

After three weeks on the run, Matt was shot and killed and Sweat was re-captured.
