Rochester Drug Cooperative Facing Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The Rochester Drug Cooperative has been slapped with a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of a woman who died of an opioid overdose.

According to the D&C, the lawsuit claims the RDC conspired in an illegal scheme to distribute the powerful drug called Subsys in the woman's home state, New Jersey.

The drug was developed by Insys Therapeutics. That company's CEO was convicted in a scheme to bribe health providers to prescribe the drug when it wasn't needed.

The dead woman's family says there was no warning about the addictive nature of Subsys.

The RDC would not comment on the lawsuit.
