People claiming they were sexually abused by priests in the Rochester diocese want retired Bishop Matthew Clark to testify about what he knew, and when.
The plaintiffs say Clark was responsible for handling complaints about the priests during the years covered by many of the new lawsuits under New York's Child Victims Act.
The diocese has filed for bankruptcy protection, so a hearing will be held in bankruptcy court to determine if he must testify.
It was announced last year that Clark was in the first stages of Alzheimer's disease. The plaintiffs want him to testify before he no longer is able to do so.
