Governor Cuomo has unveiled a $300 million proposal to overhaul the Erie Canal.
The goals are to boost recreational activities and tourism, restore wetlands, and enhance irrigation and recreational fishing.
One part is a $100 million economic development fund to invest in communities along the canal -- including canal trail improvements in Brockport.
The proposal requires the approval of the New York Power Authority Board, which oversees the Canal Corporation.
