Lake Ontario Outflows To Increase

The agency that regulates the water level on Lake Ontario plans to increase outflows from the lake over the next few days.

Now that the navigation season is over, the International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board says outflows will be increased as much as possible before ice forms on the lake.

The goal is to remove more water before the lake rises this spring, when high inflows are expected.

The agency says outflows over the last seven months set a record.
