Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich is asking Governor Cuomo to help delay the start of the 2020 shipping season on Lake Ontario.
Reilich says that would help regulate the lake levels ahead of the spring flood season.
He says by pushing the start-up date back two or three weeks, a great deal of water could be moved out of the system.
Reilich is on the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board and wants the water level to go lower to prevent spring property damage along the lakeshore.
But he says he's only one of 12 voices on the panel and shipping interests usually win out.
