The Cuomo administration is taking more steps to address addiction and illnesses for e-cigarette users.
The Department of Financial Services is directing health insurers in the state to cover the cost of vaping cessation treatments.
The guidelines are similar to those for existing coverage for smoking cessation. Insurers would not require co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles.
Nearly 2,300 cases of e-cigarette-associated lung injury have been reported nationwide, and 48 people have died.
