Nunda Judge Resigns Over Alleged Interference in DWI Investigation

A town and village judge in Nunda has resigned over allegations he intervened in a DWI investigation in a nearby town involving his brother-in-law.

Formal disciplinary charges were brought in October against Judge James Mann for the traffic stop in 2016.

Mann reportedly was called during the stop by a passenger. Mann then called the police chief and asked that his brother-in-law be given a break.

The state judicial conduct commission administrator says exerting special influence on behalf of a friend is "dangerous and wrong".
