Students Plan Protest In Response To RCSD Layoffs

More protests are planned today against the proposed teacher layoffs in the Rochester City School District.

Students at East High School are planning to wear red and walk out of classes this morning in support of teachers who received pink slips last week.

Teachers demonstrated Thursday and Friday.

The district plans to layoff more than 150 teachers next month to partially close the budget shortfall.

The teachers union will meet with the laid off teachers this evening.

The school board will take a final vote on the budget cuts next week.
