2-Alarm Fire on Mt Hope Avenue

The Rochester Fire Department is investigating what caused a two-alarm blaze early this morning on Mount Hope Avenue.

The one-story brick building was vacant and nobody was found inside. Nobody was hurt.

Crews called a second alarm within four minutes of arriving because of the size of the building and the amount of fire visible when they arrived. They fought the fire from both inside and out, facing high heat conditions and heavy smoke. The fire was under control within 20 minutes and did not reach other parts of the building.

There were some 50 firefighters on scene.
