NYS GOP Blast Public Financing System For Campaigns

Republicans in Albany are blasting the recommendations from a state commission that's crafting a public financing system for state election campaigns.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb says, “New York taxpayers should not be forced to fund political campaigns."

And Senate Minority Leader John Flanagan calls the recommendations the “Taxpayer-Funded Democrat Party Protection Program.”

They say the commission's proposals would strengthen Democrats, weaken minor parties and do nothing to create any more accountability from the most affluent and active donors -- SuperPACs and well-funded unions.
