Suspect Arrested in Destiny USA Shooting

Syracuse Police have announced an arrest in yesterday's Destiny USA shooting. 21-year-old Kyree Truax of Syracuse was arraigned in City Court Saturday morning on charges of second degree assault, second degree criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

Police charge Truax shot another man in the legs after an argument near the Kay Jeweler's store at the mall, shortly after 7 pm on Black Friday.

Truax is being held on $100,000 bail. Police say the shooting set off mass panic at the mall as rumors went around of an active shooter. The mall had to be evacuated and put on lockdown before reopening Saturday.

Syracuse Police say Truax left the mall after the shooting with a friend who had been stabbed and tried to drive him to the hospital...but on the way, he hit a Centro bus downtown near the city tree lighting ceremony. Truax exchanged information with the bus driver and followed his friend's ambulance to Upstate University hospital, where an officer recognized him from a video of the mall shooting, leading to his arrest.
