NYS Facing A $6 Billion Budget Shortfall

The latest financial report from the Cuomo administration shows the state is facing a more than $6 billion budget shortfall in the next fiscal year.

And the report shows the deficit will likely grow in the following years.

The biggest spending growth is for Medicaid payments. In recent years, the state has deferred some Medicaid expenses from one year to the next to balance the books.

Governor Cuomo will outline in January his plans to balance the next budget.
