Laura Rideout Denied New Trial

An appeals court is denying Laura Rideout's request for a new trial and is upholding her murder conviction.

She was sentenced to life in prison for the 2016 murder of her estranged husband, Craig, in Penfield.

Last month an appeals court heard Rideout's arguments. Her lawyer argued that should not have been on trial at the same time as her sons. She claims she didn't plan or commit the murder and suggests her sons, Colin and Alex, did the killing.

Colin is serving a murder sentence, but Alex was convicted only of evidence tampering.

Craig Rideout was strangled and beaten in his home. His body was found wrapped in a tarp in some woods in Yates County.
