City Council Will Consider Expanding Tax Break Program For Homeowners

The Rochester City Council meets this evening to consider expanding a city home ownership tax break program.

Under a proposal from the mayor, the city would expand the program from the downtown area to the entire city.

The program is called CHOICE and it offers a nine-year declining exemption on property taxes for new owner-occupied, market-rate housing construction or renovations.

In other business, the Council will vote on the mayor's proposed 15-year land use and housing plan called Rochester 2034.

And the Council will consider a contract with a engineering and architectural firm to look at how to redevelop the north side of the Inner Loop.
