Authorities aren't commenting on a possible motive in the murder of a Webster woman, but we are learning more about the suspect and the victim.
Piero Scala was charged Monday in the stabbing death of Cathy O'Brien at her home October 7.
Samantha Schultz is the mother of Scala's son. She tells Channel 8 that Scala had been using drugs for 20 years, but she doesn't believe he's capable of murder.
O'Brien's nephew -- Eugene Short -- tells Channel 8 Scala was a friend of the family. Short says seeing a trusted friend being charged in the his aunt's death is like losing two people.
Scala is being held without bail.
