New Legislation Needed To Protect Personal Online Data

A new report may make you think twice about the information you put online.

According to the consumer advocate website Comparitech, there are large holes in New York's laws that could make it easier for companies to use and sell your personal data.

The current legislation also gives companies more legal ground to monitor their employees' internet use.

Several state lawmakers say they're already coming up with plans to close those loopholes.

They say bills will likely be introduced when the Legislature returns in January.
