The interim head of the state Education Department is leaving next month.
Beth Berlin was a deputy with the department for six years. She took over as interim commissioner in September after the summer departure of MaryEllen Elia.
The state Board of Regents says Berlin is leaving for a new opportunity.
The board is looking for a search firm to find the next permanent commissioner.
