Officer Injured, Suspect Tased After Peck St. Incident-UPDATE

Rochester Police say an officer injured in an incident on Peck Street Friday is in serious but stable condition after surgery. He suffered multiple stab wounds when a suspect attacked him as he investigated a report of family trouble.

The suspect is also in the hospital after being Tased by police. He has not yet been charged. Police have not released the name of either the officer or the suspect yet.

Rochester Police say the officer was called to 37 Peck Street for the report of family trouble. Deputy Chief Mark Mura says altercation took place, and that's when the suspect allegedly attacked the officer. He says bystanders were able to step in and aid the officer. One shot was fired from the officer's weapon, but didn't hit anybody. The suspect was then Tased.

Mura says the officer was able to radio that he was hurt and that brought a large police presence.

The officer was taken to Rochester General for treatment and is expected to recover, however his there is no official confirmation on the officer's condition.

The suspect was taken to Strong Hospital.
