New York is banning the sale of flavored e-cigarettes and vaping products, becoming the first state to do so.
The state's Public Health and Health Planning Council voted to enact the ban, which takes place immediately and outlaws the sale of all vaping products, other than tobacco and menthol flavors.
Federal officials are currently investigating the issue, as a number of health problems have been potentially linked to e-cigarettes. That said, vaping advocates and shop owners maintain the products help people quit cigarettes, and they say health problems come from black market products which are completely unregulated.
