The armed robbery suspect sought all day Tuesday by law enforcement was captured Wednesday morning in Seneca County.
Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson says Brandon Burgess was caught after a tip came in that he was riding in a car with another party. Deputies in three counties and State Police began looking for that car. It was spotted in Seneca Falls and pulled over. Burgess ran, but was caught after a brief foot chase through a lakeshore neighborhood.
Police had been searching for Burgess since he used a long gun to hold up a 7-Eleven store on Route 14. Schools in Lyons, Newark and Williamson were placed on lockout yesterday during the search, and Lyons schools decided not to open today.
Sheriff Henderson says law enforcement was concerned over videos that Burgess had posted to social media, saying "the hunt begins" and making vague threats of violence.
