Rochester Locust Club Files Lawsuit To Block PAB Referendum

The Rochester Police Locust Club doesn't want the proposed Police Accountability Board to be on the November election ballot.

The union has filed a lawsuit against the city, the Mayor, the City Council and the Monroe County Board of Elections to block the referendum.

Rochester City Council approved plans for the board back in May. Under the plan, the nine-member board would investigate claims of misconduct by officers.

The lawsuit claims the charter amendment that would create the board violates the Civil Service Law, the collective bargaining agreement, and the law that governs negotiations between police and City Hall.
