The state hasn't confirmed it yet, but the Rochester City School District says its August graduation rate is up from last year.
The district's projected rate is 62.6 percent, which would be an increase of 3.3 percentage points from last year.
Superintendent Terry Dade calls it a significant achievement but says the district must continue its "laser-like focus on teaching and learning" to provide high-quality instruction in every school.
School Board President Van White also released a statement saying “No one on the BOE is celebrating this news, but rather we are recognizing the effort that has been made in recent years by district staff and countless people in transforming this District and changing the lives of students and families throughout this community.”
