Wegmans Asks Customers Not to Carry Firearms in Stores

Wegmans has joined WalMart, Walgreens and other businesses that are asking customers not to carry guns in their stores.

In a statement posted on Twitter this afternoon, Wegmans says it prefers that customers not openly carry firearms in their stores, even where state laws allow it. The company said "the sight of someone with a gun can be alarming, and we don't want anyone to feel that way at Wegmans." The statement makes no mention of concealed carry, which is allowed in New York by permit only.
