Firefighter Briefly Trapped in Eddy Street Blaze

A firefighter suffered what appear to be minor injuries only after he fell through the second floor of a house that was on fire.

The Rochester Fire Department says the house at 39 Eddy Street was reported in flames about 4:20 this morning. Firefighers arrived to find the flames from the first floor up into the attic. They were slightly hampered by an inoperable fire hydrant, but quickly found an alternate water supply.

The firefighter was briefly trapped, but was pulled out without need of a rescue team. He was taken to Strong Hospital to be checked out. The house was heavily damaged. It appeared to be under renovation with nobody living there.
