Teen Charged in Crash That Killed Four Dansville Teenagers

The only teenager to survive a crash that killed four others in Dansville is facing charges. Kelsi Bird, 16, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and permitting unlicensed operation of a vehicle. She was the only person wearing a seat belt when the car failed to stop at a T-intersection and crashed into a tree on County Road 13C just after 4:30 a.m. on July 27. The driver, 16-year-old Rebecca Earner, and three backseat passengers, Ambra Eddleton, 16, Justin Carpenter, 14, and Kyrstin Wolfanger, 14, all of Dansville, were pronounced dead at the scene.Troopers said the car was going 50 to 60 mph at the time of impact, and the brakes were never applied.
