Officials have officially dedicated the Town of Irondequoit’s new “eCommerce Exchange Safety Zone.”
The area is adjacent to the Town’s Public Safety Building and was made possible with $160,000 in State funding to help finance safety enhancements inside and outside of the Irondequoit Police Department.
The safety zone allows members of the public a safe place to park that is monitored by a 24-hour taping system when meeting someone to buy or sell something they advertised online.
Town Supervisor Dave Seeley says “The growth of the click-and-meet economy has expanded our power as consumers, but it has also created a potentially non-secure scenario where the very worst has unfortunately occurred.” He adds that this just adds another layer of safety and security for everyone involved.
