Final arguments were heard today in the rape trial of former Webster Schroeder High School coach Kali Watkins...and the jury will get the case tomorrow.
Watkins stands accused of raping a then-14-year-old girl in the women's locker room at Schroeder; something the defense says couldn't have happened on the day the accused says she was attacked. They introduced evidence and reinforced it during their summation to show that Watkins took his dog to the vet that afternoon, and that his daughter was with him the entire time. And they said there was no physical evidence of a rape.
The defense has now ended its summation and the prosecution has begun its final arguments, saying the timeline laid out by the defense still allows enough time for the rape to have ocurred as the victim said. She said Watkins picked his opportunity and was careful.
