Police Asking For Help In 1981 Cold Case

New York State Police are asking for the public’s help solving a cold case from October 1981. State Police say they have been looking for leads after Trooper George Lachnicht’s Troop car exploded the vehicle was parked at the State Police Wolcott garage.

The explosion seriously injured Trooper Lachnicht. Authorities say foul play is suspected and an explosive device had been placed under the Troop car. Numerous interviews were conducted over the years but authorities say the case has remained unsolved. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police.
