Gates police say the owner of a troubled bar in that town has been charged with insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident.
Police say 60-year-old Naeem Butt of the Wheels Up Bar and Hotel allegedly made an insurance claim of more than $22-thousand dollars in June, claiming he was the victim of fraudulent credit card transactions. Police say he'd actually agreed to those transactions with one of his employees.
Butt was arraigned in Gates Court and released on bail. His bar was posted by the Gates Fire Marshall today as "no occupancy" because of fire code violations.
