New Law Passed For Infant Safety Measures

Governor Cuomo has signed a new law that expands infant safety measures.

The law is named after a three-year-old girl named Harper, who died in 2016 when a dresser in her room tipped over.

The law requires retailers to sell "tip restraint" devices for new furniture.

It also requires the anchoring of large furniture and electronics at child care facilities. And it bans the sale of crib bumper pads, which have been blamed for infant death and injury.
