One Year Window Begins For Victims Of Clergy Abuse To Come Forward

Wednesday begins the one-year period under state law when people who were sexually abused as children may come forward and file lawsuits -- despite the statute of limitations.

A law firm representing many victims says at least 100 people have already indicated they plan to sue the Catholic Diocese of Rochester over alleged abuse by priests...and that number could go far higher.

Bishop Salvatore Matano said in a statement last week that "many difficult decisions will have to be made."

The bishop repeated a personal apology to victims of clergy abuse and encouraged them to continue their relationship with God.
