A federal grand jury has handed out a "superseding indictment" in the case of Western New York Congressman Chris Collins.
It replaces the original indictment against Collins, his son and other parties accusing them of insider trading. It drops three of the seven securities fraud charges against collins, and two of the charges against his son, Cameron. Both continue to face other charges of securities fraud from the original indictment.
In a letter to the judge, Federal Prosecutor Geoffrey Berman said the new indictment is an effort to avoid "unnecessary pretrial litigation that could delay the resolution of this matter."
