No Plastic Bags at Ithaca, Corning Wegmans Stores

Starting Monday, two Wegmans stores in the state will no longer be offering plastic bags for customers.

Wegmans says it’s Ithaca and Corning stores will be the first to change over to the new policy.

Wegmans announced back in April that all its stores in the state would be plastic bag free by the time the state’s ban goes into effect in March of next year.

Customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable grocery bags but paper bags will still be available for five cents. Wegmans says the amount collected will be donated to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
