The State Department of Transportation says it's receiving more than seven million dollars to rehabilitate four historic bridges over the Erie Canal in Wayne County. The work will be done over the next two years on Galloway Road and Port Gibson Road in Palmyra; County House Road in Arcadia and Lyons-Marengo Road in Galen.
NYSDOT says all four bridges are more than a hundred years old. They'll keep their historic look, but be modernized with new steel floor systems and trusses. The concrete abutments will be repaired and the bridges repainted. The rebuilt bridges will be able to carry heavier vehicles including modern fire trucks.
