A Pittsford psychiatrist has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for defrauding health insurance companies and tax evasion.
Dr. Xingjia Cui also must pay nearly $600,000 restitution.
Federal prosecutors say he billed insurance companies for services he did not provide, and he failed to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments he received from his patients.
At the time, he had a private practice in Canandaigua and worked full-time for the Canandaigua VA Medical Center.
