Sunday Afternoon Fire in Home to Several Exotic Pets

Rochester firefighters say an electrical issue may have triggered a fire at a northside home with a collection of exotic pets.

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon at 49 Kosciusko Street. The people living there got out safely, but the house also contained a dog, several snakes, geckos, a ferret, a tarantula and a scorpion. All but the scorpion are accounted for.

The fire caused significant damage. The Red Cross is assisting two adults and four children with temporary housing.
