Operators of State's Power Grid Getting Ready for Higher Demand

The operators of the state's power grid says the system is ready for the hot weather this weekend.

The New York Independent System Operator says in a statement that demand at times is expected to exceed 30,000 megawatts, but the state has more than 42,000 megawatts of power available to meet peak conditions this summer.

And the statement says the ISO is in regular contact with power plant owners to ensure the reliability needs of the grid.
